First, don't post if you are bad at math or tax details. That's the main reason people think it's not working, I suspect.
It worked for me: I earned more money than last year, paid fewer taxes, but my refund was half of 2018, suggesting we got screwed. When you looked at 2018 total taxable income, and taxes paid, compared to this year, refund was down but overall total and tax paid was clearly in my favor by about $2000. And if Illinois hadn't raised income taxes in 2018 I would have been up about $4000 over last year.
I'm suspecting most of the "didn't work" people are people looking only at refund, and not looking at the totals, but how did it work out for you guys?
