Hitting bottom usually sparks change.
True, they do deserve their bottom....problem is, if people keep handing them crutches they never quite reach that bottom. Editing to add an epiphany moment for myself.... that bottom you speak of has to sometime be reached by those with the giving hearts who allow themselves to be taken advantage of.
Bah. Eventually they all hit bottom, whether it's via a slippery slope or a slippery staircase, and all the help in the world (financial, "advice", whatever) won't change a thing. Change comes from within. And, you are mistaken that people are being taken advantage of. Either Miggy needs help, or she doesn't. And, it's a personal choice to help...or not help. But, judging the circumstances around her needs, based on past situations, doesn't change the needs. Even if it's cyber-panhandling, she has an apparent need. If I give the homeless guy on the corner a Twenty, I don't do a background check on him. Nor does it stop me from giving him more on other occasions, even though he's been doing it for months, or years. His demons are his own, and even if he uses that 20 to feed his demons, it's not up to me to judge.
Fine...I have "demons" too...NOW, GIVE ME MONEY! Thanks! Seriously, my concerns had nothing to do with a "past". It has to do with the OBVIOUS lies being told but hey, as I said earlier you folks are all grown people, it's not my job to save you from yourselves. You guys have fun and for those who did at least engage in discussing this, thanks.
Okay. Is it Miggy's job loss story that you're saying is a lie? If so, could you please pose a precise question for which she can provide a precise answer? That's fair and reasonable. Sorry about that red I gave you. I'll fix it once I can give you karma again. It was rash of me.
OH Gosh..don't apologize, I understand how emotions and things work on the internet. Sometimes it's difficult to get a point across when it's in this format as opposed to in person, etc. Besides, if not for this I'm quite certain I deserve it for something! Actually if they are still there I asked her several specific questions in various posts, none of which did she bother to respond. At this point, unless you just want them to see what I was talking about I can either go find them or you can rewind the arrow to see them but that's up to you. Early on I was very hesitant to say a peep, always wanting to give someone the benefit of the doubt but I have been here longer than my current persona indicates and even though there have been previous "crisis" presented here, that was NOT my concern. What I was concerned with were the numerous inconsistencies in this thread, all of them from Miggy herself and while I am generous to a fault when I see red flags I can't unsee them and pretend they don't exist. As I have repeated, I don't like the idea of someone, anyone taking advantage of peoples good hearts and the more I saw in the thread the more inconsistencies I witnessed. Again, as far as the red, don't worry about it, I knew what I was saying going in would have ramification. it's all good:peace: Quick edit to let you know I went to try to find some of those questions but most of those posts have mysteriously disappeared....go figure. Original Message
I was forced to resign from a full-time job I've had the past 3 years last month after an illness (pneumonia) and excessive absenteeism due to the illness and a family member's death.
I am currently waiting for my unemployment claim to be approved while I continue job hunting every day.
Today is the last day for me to pay rent plus late charges or I am going to be evicted. I've been living paycheck to paycheck these past 3 year so I have no money saved up for such an event as this.
Does anyone know if the judges who handle these cases are sympathetic to the length of time it takes for unemployment to be approved?
I don't plan on sneaking out and not paying- in fact, I don't have anywhere to go if I did.
I've never been in this position before and was wondering if anyone has any answers?
Prayers of encouragement would be very much appreciated.
Miggy
PS. If I had anything of value I would sell it but I own very little belongings and they're not really worth anything.
