[quote:Rustbelt 77575263:MV80MTgwMTMzXzc1OTk5NTcxXzNDREMxQTlG] I bought a 2012 Corolla from Hertz. I bought it with 50k miles and now have 194k on it. No problems at all. It had some minor interior blemishes but the exterior was fine. Hertz won't haggle on price and trade in value. They will push their financing options (typical stuff). I'll likely buy another Corolla from them when I get my current car to around 250k or so. I change oil every 9k miles with Supertech synthetic and Fram extra guard filter. I did a transmission fluid pan drain at 110k. Other rountine maintenance as needed. Good luck. [/quote]

I need to buy a car by the end of the year. I hate to buy new--the depreciation kills me. I started looking at newer used cars and was surprised to find several car rental places that had what seemed like really good deals. (2019 Hyundai Elantra $12K; 2019 Ford Fusion $15K; 2018 Nissan Altima $13K; 2018 Ford Mustang Coupe $20K) All these mentioned have ~20-22K miles. Hertz & Avis seem to have the best inventory.
I imagine these cars are well-maintained, but don't know anyone who's actually purchased one. Would love to hear other's experiences buying a rental car.
I keep my cars forever. Currently driving a 12 y/o Chrysler Sebring, which was my first "new" car--and got it for <17K new. I bought it on Dec 30 and they were glad to get it off their lot to avoid paying taxes on it, otherwise I doubt I would have even looked.
Or maybe I should wait until the end of December and see if I can find a deal like I did back in '08. Hmmmmmm.
