Shut down overnight. I watched 15 cement mixer trucks drive in and dump cement down the production shaft after they knocked over the hoist shack with a bulldozer. Nobody will talk about it because they paid everyone out; even their vacation and holiday pay. They remediated the whole place and now it's overgrown with trees and shrubs. It's like it just vanished, the only thing left is a couple of rusty vent pipes sticking up out of the ground.
Interesting. What do you think they found or saw that made it necessary to cement it over?
No clue. Structral problems can be fixed, even something like high radon levels can be taken care of. And this was a large mine that produced good hard coal, and had tons of reserve. I was only ten or eleven at the time, but I know people were pissed about it.
Got into a very interesting conversation with a guy at the bar earlier tonight. Started out with the usual garden variety conspiracies and typical glp topics that every one knows. But then he told me that he knows of a deep underground facility or base somewhere in the Appalachian Mountains with thousands of trained soldiers or assassins who are not officially known. He said they've been there since birth, no records, birth certificates, ssn's. Basically ghosts. Asked him how he knew about it and he just nodded and smiled.
First I'd ever heard of that one, has anyone else heard of this? Reminded me of Bourne movies or something similar.
