I miss phone books. I'm not tall so almost every chair I sit in, my feet don't touch the floor. I used to be able to grab a phone book to put on the floor to rest my feet on...
Phone books were also good when you needed to put a little weight on something to flatten or straighten it...
They were also great for hiding stuff. You could glue the edges of the pages together and cut a compartment into it and hide small valuables, then stack a couple more phone books on top... nobody would grab the bottom phone book...
