Officials in Massachusetts discovered the vandalism early on Monday morning

Workers at the site removed red spray-painted graffiti sometime before noon

The graffiti included the letters 'MOF' and the number 508

Officials have yet to determine the motive for the graffiti

In years past, Plymouth Rock has been the site of political protests
