As of Friday -
As per Corona.Help website:
NYS has 39k positives and 460 deaths.
So 1% of people who contract it are dying in NYS.
NYS also has population of 19.5 million people. 39k is less than 0.2% of the total population of NYS.
NYC has a population of 8.5 million. Even if you put ALL 39k cases in NYC, it would be less than 0.5% of the population.
By contrast, Italy has on average 17,000 deaths annually due to influenza with some years as high at 25,000 deaths! Italy currently sitting at less than 8k deaths for this season due to corona.
Let those extremely low odds of exposure sink in irrespective of how contagious covid19 is. Is it possible to contract in NYS? yes. 0.2% -0.4% chance.
FYI- your chance of being hit by a car in USA is 1 in 42,000 =.002%
Which is equivalent to your odds of dying from covid19 in NYS “the epicenter” hahahahaha
