Original Message GRAND HAVEN, MI – Protestors plan to gather at Grand Haven State Park for a “Beach Bash” this weekend in response to the closure of the beach’s parking lots to keep crowds away during the coronavirus pandemic.

The Grand Haven Beach Bash, scheduled for 3:30-6:30 p.m. Saturday, May 16, is planned as a “family-friendly event” with grilling, beach games and more, according to the event’s private Facebook page.

“(The park) was shut down because people weren’t following (Whitmer’s) tyrannical social distancing measures,” Hall said. “We’re here to tell Gretchen Whitmer, or anyone who thinks we can’t use our state park and our beaches, hell no. There’s no one who’s going to tell us that. We will use our beaches.”
