I read somewhere the G stood for Germain, as in saint germain. He apparently started the masons, then it was infiltrated by Redshield/Rothschild and essentially taken over at the top levels. And they kept that G symbol to mock Germain, the original Templar. I could be wrong, thats just something I remember reading or hearing in a interview some time ago.

I think Masons are open to all sects and religions. Im not sure it was the case when the order first started but over time it has begun to include every religion or belief system.. I could be wrong as I am no expert or a mason so I don't know for sure just speculating.
