[quote:Anonymous Coward 79336673:MV80NzIxMjEzXzg1OTc2ODAxXzQ3OUYxRjRE] [quote:VinoSom:MV80NzIxMjEzX0RCMDJCNDc5] I am a non denominational Christian. I believe Jesus Christ died for my sins, was crucified on the cross, and rose from the grave. I believe in heaven and hell. I believe I am saved only by Grace. Whith that said I dont know where I stand on the Rapture? Please tell me where that word is used one time in the bible?
In context, it is in this verse only. 1Th 4:17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up (G726) together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Obviously, the word ‘rapture’ isn’t in the original text which was written in Greek. As said by others, the Greek word is harpazo. When translated to Latin, which the early church did, harpazo became ‘rapturo’ from where we derive the English word ’rapture’. As the text in the verse says, when Jesus returns, we (believers and followers of Christ) will rise to meet him. And so, we will be with him forever. The text does not say we go to heaven. The Greek word used for ‘meet’ in the verse is used in Greek for people going out to meet someone important (a king or dignitary) and accompany him back with them. Where you time this event is subject to much discussion, but the simple reading of the text, along with the words of Jesus, Peter and Paul, is that it is the second coming, the end of the age, the judgment of believers AND non-believers, the Day of the Lord, and the introduction of the new heaven and new earth. Ignore one is all and all is one, by the way, on anything related to scripture. A deceiver of the flock. God bless
