[quote:ghostly screams:MV80Nzk3Njc0Xzg3NTMwOTk2X0RGRkY3REFC] [quote:Anonymous Coward 80027182:MV80Nzk3Njc0Xzg3NTE5NjI4X0Q3MjdEMkIw] Fasting is a giant reset on everything within the body. It not only brings about healing attributes through autophagy, but after about three days, ketosis kicks in for the effects of weight loss. When the primary glucose fuel stores are drained, the body's secondary fuel source ketones, kick in as the fuel replacement. In Ketosis, you will feel a sense of euphoria and well being. Some days will offer high energy, others low energy. You won't crave vices, like alcohol or other addictions. Your days will feel longer and more slowed, almost a tad boring. You will sleep much less. Your vigor and stamina will increase. Your dreams, may manifest in vivid color as you sleep, unlike you've ever experienced before. Your appetite will be largely suppressed into nonexistent. While your body will be healing itself through autophagy, it's going to give you some minor discomforts along the way. Always know what you are doing, and know when to come out. Vitamins, supplements, apple cider vinegar, and electrolytes are critically important. Measure and record your results, and track your ketone levels. Learn how to refeed safely, as you wake up your digestive system. The mileage of someone that is 100 lbs, verses someone that is 400 lbs, is very different. Fat, when accessed is a fuel source and when you understand the mechanism involved, can manipulate your body in a safe and healthy way. If you don't understand it, you can do yourself incredible harm, including inducing death. In the numbers above, the 400 lbs individual can hold out much longer safely, as they have ample fat stores. It really comes down to body fat percentages. The longest water fast ever recorded, is over 400+ days straight. I recently heard of an individual friend of the family that went too extreme. No prep. No understanding of what she was doing. She lost an incredible amount of weight, but she took it to the extreme of anorexia. Her organs were starting to fail. Her mind was going dull. She didn't do it properly, and was admitted to the hospital. Know your limits. It's a beautiful experience, one I recommend everyone try at least once, but do it safely. Learn what works for your own body. It's an experience I will continue to do for the rest of my life, on and off simply for the health benefits.
Great post! This resonated with me. I appreciate the tips. I'm diving in and believe I'm three days in. Do you have a suggestion for electrolyte options? I'd like to make my own and have seen that baking soda can be used instead of salt.
I am freaking starving and I never felt better. My growling stomach gurgles as hunger pangs grow in intensity.
These sensations are beyond pleasurable. I embrace the feelings that are ever present. I'll eat when it's an absolute neccessity. Until then, I'll enjoy the benefits of being hungry.
My lover will be dismayed to read these words. My health and well being are a high priority for her. I'll do my best to alleviate her worry for this particular situation.
