[quote:Anonymous Coward 79240399:MV80ODk4MDM4Xzg2RUMxNzUz] I don’t know why this episode of Star Trek Voyager really stuck with me, but current events bring it to mind. In this episode called "Coda", Captain Janeway is near death but doesn’t realize it and is being ‘invited’ by an entity that looks like her father into a seemingly wonderful place. The alien father says uncharacteristic fear-based, urgency-based commentary and Janeway realizes it is not her father. Being intelligent, brave and a skeptic, she realizes that the entity cannot force her to go into his matrix but she has to volunteer to go. She resolutely says “No” to going into the matrix. The alien father is quite upset (the matrix needed Janeway's energy), but has to leave without her. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ghSq2qlwrs0 Quite a powerful lesson. [/quote]
