Yes, it's possible. There was a guy in Scotland who went more than a year on nothing but coffee and vitamin supplements. Look at those guys on the Alone show, you'll be looking at about losing half a pound a day on average, so if you go 40 days you're looking at 20 pounds. The biggest danger to people that go on long fasts isn't the fast itself, but when you start to eat again. You could kill yourself by something that's known as re-feeding syndrome. The longest I've gone on a fast was 30 days, which I did to help my body shed the toxins stored up in the fat layers and to help it heal. When I ended the fast I went to a strict keto diet and now years later am still eating low/carb organic unprocessed food as much as possible and feel great. If you're planning on doing it strictly for weightloss reasons you might want to consider doing what is known as a fat-fast. Ironically by consuming nothing but fats, in limited quantities you lose weight even faster while protecting your body's protein/muscle tissue. Once you get past the first three days you won't be hungry and it'll seem easy. Just keep an eye out for cramping and stay hydrated. Good luck.
This depends on the person, I lose 20 lbs in less than two weeks doing 2 6 day fasts. My first 6, sometimes I drop over 12 lbs. Depends on the person. People who are overweight can lose insane amounts of weight very fast. Note: one other factors is how you prep the body prior to the fast. If you do zero prep and have been eating any from of carbs then the process is slower out the gate but if you go zero carb(not keto bs, keto not healthy long term and leave body drawn out and depleted muscle mass) and are eating only meat thats high fat(red meat is best for this time, but not all the time) for 7-10 days and then start the fast, he fat loss will be accelerated. When you prep like this and go into a long fast you body goes into a preservation mode giving away fat while preserving muscle mass. Keto leave the body in limbo, it’s trying to use fat as it’s main source of fuel but is constantly reverting back to carbs due to glucose being crated by limited carb intake. Keto is trash. I like eating whatever I want a lot of the time, fasting allows you to do that and it’s far superior in every way health wise. Keto is for morbidly obese people who don’t have control or lazy people who don’t wanna look fat and don’t mind having a poor body composition when they get older.
