We were informed last week that if we aren't vaccinated ( 25% of the company isn't ), that we'll need to pay an additional money per pay pay period to cover "extra covid costs" next year. This thing is a sham, this is going to go on forever if we don't stand and fight. It's all a bunch of garbage. Our VP of human resources is parroting the same garbage nonsense as all of the government. If I had another job lined up I'd quit in front of the entire company during open enrollment when they are going to explain it all. I'm a remote programmer. I haven't been into the office since like 2015. I never take a sick day off but if this passes and I can't quit then I'm gonna take one additional day off per month ( our company gives unlimited days off at a certain level ) to account for the differences in pay.
Refuse the vaccination. The government (this is a federal mandate for companies over 100 people). The Federal mandate requires the company to provide covid testing to employees. If they fire you for refusing the vaccine, hopefully you have documented that they are requiring you to get a vaccine or illegally charge you for working without providing weekly testing, at some point....the Federal Mandate will be declared Unconstitutional and a business requiring its employees to get a vaccine when they are healthy from natural immunity, will in the near future...become an opportunity to sue your employer for NOT providing weekly testing.
I plan on fighting it. I have a decent amount of savings and will take this to the courts if I have to. I've already been talking with attorneys and have some arrows in my quiver if it comes to that.
