The flight went to Japan and then another to Bangkok. The plane from the USA was one of those huge ones that hold 700 or 800 people and he was one of four- 4- yes only 4- passengers. It was pretty much the same from Japan. He heard the same thing- the routes are contracted with the government, not with the airports. And they only way to keep a popular route you don't want to lose is to keep flying the planes.
I call bullshit AGAIN. Ive been on international flights pre pandamic and after. ive sat at the terminal and watched the planes being checked, loaded and stocked. Ive also have had the pleasure many times of getting off the plane OUTSIDE the terminal and taking a shuttle to inside the terminal. Its alwys the same..which was not enough ticket holders arriving on time . what you see on tv & in the movies is just that; fantasy. Many people never catch their flight and no way in hell will a jumbo airliner that holds 900 people take off carrying only 4 passengers. we all knew why the plights were 12 hours late.
I have to disagree on this.... traveling all through this covid BS I have been on numerous airplanes with more crew than paying passengers... in the US and Intnl too. I was also traveling during SARS--part 1 and it was even worse.
Thousands of planes from some of Europe’s biggest airlines have been forced to fly empty planes in order to keep their prized departure and landing times at major airports.
Europe’s second biggest carrier, Lufthansa reports it had to operate 18,000 ‘ghost flights’ over the winter.
Every day, thousands of empty planes are flying around the world, as flight radars show.
