Revolt against Heraclius From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia The Revolt against Heraclius (613–617) was a Jewish insurrection against the Byzantine Empire coming into aid of the Persian invaders. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Revolt_against_Heraclius Also... I have a copy of an article written by Dr James Tabor, [Professor and Chair of the Department of Religious Studies at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte where he has taught since 1989.] in the Winter 1993/94 edition of the United Israel Bulletin, where he goes into detail about the conflict between the Byzantine Christians, Persians and jews, before the Muslims conquered Jerusalem in 638. Tabor writes about the Byzantine Christian church built on the temple mount during that 10 year period when the Byzantine Christians retook Jerusalem 628-638. The title of Tabor's article is: " The Dome of the Rock is Not a Moslem Mosque, Originally a Christian Church " Tabor has a photo of the Dome of the Rock shrine with his article. Here is his caption: " Aeial view of the Dome of the Rock; notice Octagonal shape of the Byzantine Church foundation. " ~
