What a great show. I had no idea what Al Ruddy went through to make The Godfather. Really cool too after each episode there's a behind the story segment. Really interested on how they will end it. :bigbump:
There's a tease that they did something to "make movie history" and change the dynamic in Hollywood. I've been doing a low-level search of that subject to sort of satisfy my curiosity, but haven't found it yet. This is the 50-year anniversary of the movie coming out. Their treatment of the inside story behind it all is compelling stuff.
*SPOILERS IN THIS POST* :ohno::ohno::ohno::ohno::ohno::ohno::ohno: I know that they were talking about the cut making it 175 minutes, taking out the 30mins that Barry Lapedis demanded. And then when Bob Evans took back control and approved the full length and how they were worried about how many showtimes they could accommodate each day. I looked up the original release run-time..its only 175 minutes... per wiki. Also they set records with the box office.. extending hours of theaters cramming 7 shows in one day which was never done before. I'm thinking it might be about the above.. Can't wait.
In the show Barry wanted it to be two hours and told them to cut 45 minutes. So if it was released at 175 minutes, that would be they didn't cut it down to the 2 hours (120 minutes). This show is story telling at its finest. The finale is next week and I'm left wishing some of the main character stories behind the making of 'The Godfather' movie might spin off, sorta like 'Yellowstone' has.
What a great production. Somehow, 'The Godfather' has managed to assemble the perfect cast twice in fifty years...once for the movie...and today with 'The Offer.'
In this incredible scene, Al Ruddy (prod), Coppola (dir) and Puzo (auth) and Bettye (Al's asst) meet Brando at his home.
It's worth the price of admission. Great 70's vibe, too.
