Woo woo shit aside, which has its own merit, these devices give people information that they otherwise should not or would not have. Black. Magic.

The "scrying" element is woo woo I suppose but I have reason to believe there is some truth in this realm of investigation.

Condemnation without investigation is the peak of human ignorance.

How dumb would we be to dismiss the potentiality of these devices causing some sort of interference with non-physical negative entities that are mentioned by almost ever culture in some way shape or form?
