But I understand now there is something called half-polarized made for driving (polarized just enough without the rainbow effect). As for lenses mineral glass is the clearest, then CR-39 plastic, then Trivex and finally polycarbonate is the worse for acuity.
Interesting. Although I have a pair of Steiner binoculars with special coatings (If you don't know, Steiner is good glass!) The "cheap" plastic sunglasses I just bought give me ALMOST a similar super-clear view like Steiner glass. Not exactly as sharp...but close-enough for me. Is it possible that our manufacturing is simply so good now that plastic lenses can be made almost like glass? And for cheap? Q) How the F' do they make a profit on 10 buck sunglasses? A) :baby: + :big_smile: Certainly not 30 years ago...or even 20. BUT....If you make expensive lenses..... {would you maybe want to keep that a secret? it's kinda' bad for business don't you think?}
Original Message
I have a pair of Oakley Sunglasses, nice while they lasted.
Now they are nothing but $75 of junk.
The lenses lost their coating (maybe my fault - maybe not).
HOWEVER:
I just went to Lowe's Hardware.
$10...Polarized Sunglasses....NICE!
$30...Polarized, impact lens, wrap-around...Real NICE!
-AND- From Publix Grocery
$20...Iron Man Athlete Polarized....VERY NICE!
NOTE:
I live in Florida, I NEED Polarized lenses.
ONLY PURCHASE POLARIZED GLASSES!!!
THE SUN & UV RAYS ARE VERY BRIGHT AND POWERFUL.
I DON'T WEAR SUNSCREEN
-BUT-
I DO WEAR SUNGLASSES!
{Any comments or suggestions?}
