Ukraine is applying to join NATO in an "accelerated manner" in response to Moscow's announcement of the annexation of four of its regions. Kyiv is now betting on joining NATO and activating Article 5 on collective defense.

So far, NATO has not commented on Zelenskiy's request for rapid accession to the Alliance. This move naturally causes concern, as it brings closer and closer the direct conflict between NATO (led by the USA) and Russia.
