DES MOINES, Iowa -- At least one tornado has ripped across southern and central Iowa, with damage reported in Wayne and Appanoose counties.
Wayne County Emergency Management Coordinator Bill Yeager said the twister tore the roof off a house east of Seymour Thursday afternoon and also downed some power lines.
Jeff Johnson, a forecaster with the National Weather Service, said he has also received reports of damage in Appanoose County, though he does not have details on what was affected or if anyone was injured.
Johnson said tornadoes are possible in eastern Iowa Thursday night.
