I just posted some comparison videos of water play for Billy and the Sanctuary Elephants at end of thread.
There are Now 1577 Signatures! Thank you to all who have signed!!!
We still need 5000. I am going to bump this thread occasionally through the weekend.

Hi! Please help 19 year old Billy get Retired to a Sanctuary. Elephants Live to 50-70 years old. The Zoo does NOT PLAN to get any additional Elephants as company for Billy... This is not Healthy!!!!
We have a Elephant at the LA Zoo who is presently being kept in a fairly small enclosure, alone. There are a few youtubes out there that show him having a little bit of a "mental" time. He needs to be Retired to a Sanctuary of some kind. Or at least kept with Other Elephants in a Large Enclosure. Elephants are Animals that Stay together and Graze together....This Small Enclosure alone is just cruel.

This is a better example of what Billy Remembers Doing and should be doing with his familiar Elephant Family.
Not swaying back and forth in a small enclosure, surrounded by a fence and people starring at him.
Watch him sway back and forth, I wonder...
Is he in a memory cloud...a safety net that he has created, in his mind to escape the literal hell he lives in?
Why do we accept this Bullshit treatment of noble creatures so that somebody can make a buck$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ ? What are we teaching our children when we drag them to see a pinned up Creature like an elephant swaying and stressed in a pin too small for his existence?

Los Angeles -- Citing declarations by experts who contend the Los Angeles Zoo has a history of abusing and neglecting its elephants, actor/animal activist Robert Culp wants a judge to order the immediate closure of the pachyderm exhibit and stop work on its expansion, court papers show.
In a lawsuit filed Aug. 2 against the city and zoo director John Lewis, Culp and real estate agent Aaron Leider maintain zoo authorities have withheld medical care, kept the animals confined in a small area and used bull hooks and electric shock to control them.

Sanctuary for All the L.A. Zoo Elephants
L.A. Zoo's lone male Asian elephant, 19-year-old Billy - who spends most of his time living in solitary confinement - must also be transferred. For years, he has been displaying extreme "zoochotic" behavior in the form of neurotic "head bobbing." This type of behavior is caused by factors such as lack of space and lack of complexity in the elephant's environment.
