Gen 1:20 And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl [that] may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven
Gen 1:24 And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so.
Or more plainly,
Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life
Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind
Correlate that with the fact that the word day in original text is yom or yome which means both the words day and age and meant age then the account of creation makes a little more sense and evolution as we believe it to be is reconciled somewhat.
One thing left worth knowing is how long an age or yom or day was. Looking at the evidence I've stumbled on it seems it was between 12k and 25k'ish years long and possible into the millions in some ages and even billions for some.
Fossil records correlate with this as well somewhat. Fossils show that plants were first "life" on the planet, fish, reptiles, and birds next, and mammals lastly all the way to present time.
One may then ask if Adam was the first man as postulated by many in church, but the bible actually answers that as well.
Chiefly this:
Gen 1:25 And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that [it was] good.
Gen 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every
Gen 1:27 So God created man in his [own] image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
Gen 1:31 And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, [it was] very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day
And as that story goes God rested on the seventh day and sanctified it and called it holy. It was after that that God made Adam. How long between day 6 and the making of Adam is the only part of that riddle or understanding. May have been an awful long time as our current standards and understanding goes or possibly a bit or lot shorter than the age which was day seven.
Another point of interest in this is the following.
Gen 2:4 These [are] the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD God made the earth and the heavens,
day the LG made the earth and heavens? I thought we just established those were ages. If they were ages was that 7 days a week and an age of its own but with far greater length, encompassing the others?
Anyway, the point of this post is that the bible seems to half way say evolution is fact. The question I see which remains is do we understand it correctly as far as our understanding of evolution goes? We certainly don't understand creation if we think each day was one of earths days. And even if we account for the two verses that say a day to God is as a thousand years and vice verse, and conclude it was six thousand years we still don't get it and we're still wrong.
We have to set our thinking in spans of time we can barely comprehend to get a better understanding of creation/evolution. Once we reconcile both together we will mostly likely have moved on to the nest age which my personal belief says is the age of Gods personal rule of all things previously allowed to act according to a specific predetermined design and permitted to play out naturally.
