Original Message Instead of bailing out the investment houses and brokerage firms and the get -rich-speculators that got this country in the current financial mess that it is in, Congress should just use that 700 billion to give every taxpayer over 30 who has been paying taxes for at least ten years a million dollars tax-free.

Why over 30? Because they have paid in the taxes and also because the under 30 crowd might just blow it on drugs or drinks and all manner of idiotic spending.

The American taxpayer would be better at spending and investing the money than those idiots in Congress and giving it to us is better than giving it to the crooks on Wall Street.

People could then actually pay off their mortgages, car loans, student loans, credit cards and most would have some left over to save and set up retirement accounts and buy health insurance and set aside college money for the kids and grandkids.

Sure, some people would blow it away in a year but most would see it as an opportunity to get out from under their bills and plan a better future for themselves and their families.

It would boost the economy. Congress can then re-regulate the banking industry and Wall Street so the same thing doesn't happen again.

Right now we are all seeing a lot of suffering amongst our friends, families, and neighbors but none of us have seen any of the Wall Street crowd losing their multi-million dollar shirts/skirts and houses. They are still raking it in and would continue to do so under the plans proposed in Congress.

So Congress should give the money to us and let us decide how to spend it.
