[quote:Anonymous Coward 537172:MV82NDk0MzRfOTg4NTIyM182NjFCRDdCQg==] [quote:Anonymous Coward 537219] I see serveral people asking whats wrong with Obama's plan for income redistribution. People justify Obama's plan by stating that our current system has all the income being distributed from the middle class to the upper class and the upper class has all the tax breaks. I would like some serious posts about why you think high income tax payers currently get all the tax breaks while the middle class is being screwed.
The problem with income redistribution is that it discourages small business owners and entrepreneurs from innovation and expansion, increased taxation becomes prohibitive. Also, your data is flawed. The top 5% of income earners in america pay 30% of all personal income taxes collected. That is already disproportionate. It would be better to increase corporate taxes and close evasionary loopholes. Increase the tax base for companies who offshore employees or manufacture overseas........more jobs will bring a better economy for everyone........not transferring wealth.
