[quote:Anonymous Coward 615608:MV83Mjg0ODBfMTExNjg4NTFfN0JDRTQ3Q0I=] [quote:Lawman] morality is in no way connected to religion First off, the Bible is not of religion. Where does morality come from? I do not care who you are, most people derive morals from the Bible. Ever see how unruly children are without guidance?
If you were to derive all your morals from the bible, you'd be in a lot of trouble. Did you read all of it? Religious people derive their morals from their religious education, what they were told was in the bible. In the bible are some interesting passages, I really hope you don't derive your morals from there: (Deuteronomy 22:28-29 NLT) If a man is caught in the act of raping a young woman who is not engaged, he must pay fifty pieces of silver to her father. Then he must marry the young woman because he violated her, and he will never be allowed to divorce her. (Exodus 21:15 NAB) Whoever strikes his father or mother shall be put to death. (Proverbs 20:20 NAB) If one curses his father or mother, his lamp will go out at the coming of darkness. (Leviticus 20:9 NLT) All who curse their father or mother must be put to death. They are guilty of a capital offense. (Leviticus 20:10 NLT) If a man commits adultery with another man's wife, both the man and the woman must be put to death. Just to name very few of the dozens of dozens (pun intended) of accounts of the bible posing as a very doubtful guide concerning morals.
Imagine that you have two people marooned on a desert island, one person is a moral, truthful, devout christian, and the other person is areligious, immoral, unethical, devious. What would be the outcome of this situation?
