[quote:Reality 725815:MV84NTAxNzBfMTMxOTg5MzVfNUVFOUYxN0Q=] [quote:DutchCourage] Hmmm, not so sure about water replacement. Core can be made of lead and after that cast into gold. Goodluck finding that out. Relative mass of Lead equals gold. Think you need to scan. Mercurary will work but beats the purpose in this case, lol.
While someone could cast a thin hollow shell of gold and then fill it with lead, the density would reveal that it was mainly lead. The OP's measurements and mass, even accounting for sloppy measuring, produce a density that is so far away from gold or even its common low-alloys it is pretty obvious that it is not gold. It is probably just a paperweight. They aren't that uncommon... were popular in the late '70s - early '80s. Have fun. R.
I need to check if a 900g gold bar is for real, i'll take it in to the jewlers, but is there another way? I am very suspicious of it, it looks like a paper weight becsaue it has felt on its underside. It has been represented as real.
