MONTROSE ��” Low-income Montrose County residents may be eligible for thousands of dollars more than they expect in 2009 tax returns.
With 11 percent of Montrose County households receiving food stamps and a 7.8 percent unemployment rate here in November ��” both very high numbers for Colorado ��” struggling locals could reap great benefits from the Earned Income Tax Credit program of the Internal Revenue Service.
The IRS created the program in 1975 to encourage low-income workers and offset the burden of payroll taxes.

"It's very important because if your income falls in the limits, this program can feasibly help a family for some time to get caught up on bills, buy food or make house payments. Whatever you need," said Mary BanMeter, accountant for Bea Froehde Accounting Service Inc., 419 N. Second St.

This is to funny! If they were low wage workers they probably barely paid tax to begin with and the thousands they get back will come right out of my pocket! This accountant must be a lefty lol
