Sarah Palin's daughter Bristol is seeking child support from the father of her one-year-old son. Documents filed in an Alaskan court show she is seeking $1,750 (£1,090) a month from Levi Johnston, 19. Their son, Tripp, was born in December 2008.

Mrs Palin was the Republican candidate for vice-president when it was revealed Bristol was pregnant. Mrs Palin said the couple would marry, but they separated shortly afterwards. The child support motion says that Mr Johnston has paid only $4,400 in more than a year. Ms Palin is also seeking child support of $18,350, based on an estimate of Mr Johnston's income last year – thought to be more than $105,000 for media interviews and modelling.
