[quote:Anonymous Coward 642285:MV85NzY5MDJfMTUyODg0MTBfMUZGQkU5REY=] Fortieth, fiftieth, and sixtieth birthdays are best spent recovering from whatever plastic surgery you just had so you won't look like the wreck of the hespers for teh upcoming decade. After 70, you really have to just be happy you're still here. That's quite an accomplishment when you come down to it. [/quote]

I don't know why it bothers me so much. It just seems so incredibly childish and narcissistic. I actually have a female friend who is 47 who has had a birthday every year of her life with a bunch of invited guests and presents expected. I have another friend about the same age who spends her 23 year old son's birthday with him all day and evening. I work with women in their 30's and 40's who go absolutely ape shit about their birthdays. I just had to dish out over $30 for the pizza for the office party. And she is as giddy as a 6 year old as she blows out her candles.
Does anyone grow the fuck up?
