he might be a military historian but he's a thick bastard as well. If Israel were on the verge of annihilation, their air force would be too preoccupied with defending Israel to spare any aircraft to fly off to Italy and Greece and attack them. All their nuclear weapons presumably would have been used on who ever was attacking them, so they probably wouldn't have any spare to fire at Europe. Anyway, top Israelis probably have their escape routes to europe and North America already worked out, so pissing off the people who will give them sanctuary if and when Israel does finally disappear into the Med would not be a clever idea.
