Actually I think the flying spaghetti monster is a step closer to God and here's why.

1)God is not stationary and does tend to fly around the universe doing this and seeing that.
2) God is to be eaten, in that you absorb his / her energies until you reach fullness, i.e. enlightenment
3) God projects himself with Rays of energy, similar in shape and length to spaghetti. These rays are in fact spiral like spaghetti
4) Spaghetti is ruby and cream colored which just happen to be the colors of the female and male aspects of the godhead
5) Spaghetti is notorious for getting tangled much like our world and its relationship with god now is.
6) Spaghetti is often wrapped around a fork, or trident, which is what the Devil does with God's energy so that he can eat it.
7) Spaghetti has meatballs, which are decent symbols of the more powerful element so this fine theory.
8) Spaghetti has parmasean cheese which really represents the amazing arrays of particles that make up our world.
9)Spaghettis is a hot dish meaning it ultimately comes from the sun, so, you know, all good religions are based on the sun somehow
10) In some mystery schools if a system has 9 good attributes, it automatically get a bonus attribute.
