This chapter and verse, has always been interpretated as the Water actually turning Blood Red. Are you sure?
"And the second angel poured out his vial upon the sea; and it became as the blood of a dead man: and every living soul died in the sea."(Revelations 16:3)
Water is Earth's blood. Without oxygen it becomes dead.By Les Blumenthal, McClatchy Newspapers Les Blumenthal, Mcclatchy Newspapers – Sun Mar 7, 12:01 pm ET
WASHINGTON — Lower levels of oxygen in the Earth's oceans, particularly off the United States' Pacific Northwest coast, could be another sign of fundamental changes linked to global climate change, scientists say.
They warn that the oceans' complex undersea ecosystems and fragile food chains could be disrupted.
In some spots off Washington state and Oregon , the almost complete absence of oxygen has left piles of Dungeness crab carcasses littering the ocean floor, killed off 25-year-old sea stars, crippled colonies of sea anemones and produced mats of potentially noxious bacteria that thrive in such conditions.
Areas of hypoxia, or low oxygen, have long existed in the deep ocean. These areas — in the Pacific, Atlantic and Indian oceans — appear to be spreading, however, covering more square miles, creeping toward the surface and in some places, such as the Pacific Northwest , encroaching on the continental shelf within sight of the coastline.
"The depletion of oxygen levels in all three oceans is striking," said Gregory Johnson , an oceanographer with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration in Seattle.

Dead Zones Worry Scientists
by Michael G. Mickey
(3-11-10)
The topic of dead zones, areas of ocean with depleted or lowered oxygen levels, is one that has been covered by me in the past on a number of occasions but it's worth examining again, based on the content of a McClatchy article dated 3-7-10.
In the article, echoing previous concerns raised by the scientific community in the past, we read that the phenomena, which is increasingly occurring in the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian oceans, may disrupt "complex undersea ecosystems and fragile food chains", the potential ramifications of which could be catastrophic if the current trend persists.
No matter how many times I see the issue of oxygen-depleted seas addressed, I am reminded of Revelation 16:3:
And the second angel poured out his vial upon the sea; and it became as the blood of a dead [man]: and every living soul died in the sea.
What is one consistent quality of the blood of a dead man that causes me to wonder if the woeful signs being recorded by scientists on this front are God's way of giving us a glimpse into the prophetic future? The blood of a dead man is devoid of oxygen.
The article states, of the dead zone phenomena, the following in part:
Commonly, ocean "dead zones" have been linked to agricultural runoff and other pollution coming down major rivers such as the Mississippi or the Columbia. One of the largest of the 400 or so ocean dead zones is in the Gulf of Mexico , near the mouth of the Mississippi.
However, scientists now say that some of these areas, including those off the Northwest, apparently are linked to broader changes in ocean oxygen levels.
Several things jumped out at me when I first read the above, one of which is how dramatically the number of reported dead zones has spiked in recent years.
Lynette Schaefer wrote a commentary for my site in 2006 that stated the following on this topic:
MSNBC reported in 2004 that scientists found 150 dead zones in the world's oceans, resulting from imbalance of chemicals causing oxygen deprivation or suffocation of the fish. It is also because of acid rain from fossil fuels, fertilizer run-off and industrial waste.
Assuming the reports referred to in this commentary and Lynette's are accurate, the number of dead zones in our oceans has more than doubled in 6 short years. Frightening to consider, huh?
The second thing that leaps off the page at me is the reference made to a great deal of the dead zone phenomena being linked to global warming, the science behind which has been heavily under fire of late as a result of Climategate, the consequences of which have raised the specter of global warming being nothing more than an elaborate hoax.
Warming or no warming
While I am a full blown skeptic of global warming, particularly since Climategate became a household word, there is no question that mankind's stewardship over the earth has been inadequate and that, through our oceans, we may be seeing, quite clearly, the extent of our neglect.
The question in my mind, as I alluded to earlier, is whether what we're seeing in our oceans today is God's way of grabbing our attention, demonstrating to us through the news of our world that His Word is true and, more importantly, that mankind's time to respond to the gospel of Jesus Christ this side of the Tribulation Period is swiftly running out.
