Just had about twenty years scared off me.

I was in the kitchen feeding my cockatoo her daily snack when this sonic BOOM sounded right over my house. I nearly jumped out of my skin.

I rushed out toward the mailbox where the guy who landscapes my yard was and he pointed out two fighter jets that were flying hellaciously low not far from my neighborhood. They were so low I could make out the pilot's heads.

I asked Tucker, my landscaper, what happened ... and he said he was weed eating and looked up and one of the jets looked like it was coming up out of my back yard. He kept saying, "I thought it was gonna hit your house and me and then the ground! I ain't seen nothing like that since Desert Storm!"

I watched them for a few seconds and they hauled ass out of dodge. I live in Georgia and I'm NOT near a base of any kind. I'm also not on any flight paths and that is the first air traffic, aside from a crop duster, that I've seen.

It was the most god-awful sound I've ever heard. My whole house rattled, a picture fell off the wall, my knees buckled. It was like thunder ... only NOT like thunder because it was like it went inside you and rattled your teeth around. My ears are still ringing and it's probably been about fifteen minutes since it happened. I'm nauseated, dizzy, and still weak kneed.

My bird broke two of her blood feathers. I got them snipped down and straightened out. She's back in her cage, but she keeps screaming the cockatoo scream. My dog is currently barking like a maniac on the back deck.

What the hell were they doing?

This just in:

Jets often fly (in the sky, go figure!), and they are loud.

next time you see them coming. Release your bird...so it flies into one of their engines. two problems solved. NO more jet No more bird.

It just happened AGAIN.

I've called my friend at the police station to see if they know anything about it, but he's out on a run. The same picture fell off the wall again. I'm not hanging the damn thing back up. Screw it.

If my nervous breakdown ever finishes making me shake like a long tailed cat in a nursing home full of rocking chairs ... I will happily go back to bed.

I can handle it happening ONCE. Well ... I didn't handle it very well because I came and posted here about it, but twice? That's not okay. Something is going on. And our skies are clear and perfect, but our tornado sirens have gone off twice. Neither time was close to the sonic booms, though. We don't do tests on those things except on Wednesdays at noon. I don't know what to think.

Other odd things: my land line and internet has been problematic. My cable went completely out for about two and a half hours. And my dog keeps peeing in the house.

I'm close to joining her.

same thing happened to me a little after 9/11. i live real close to tinker air force base....they were flying low constantly around that time and one day i was in the living room and my son was outside and i hear one of thsoe planes get closer and closer and louder and louder and it was so noisy that things were rattling in my house and i panicked...ran to the door thinking omg i hope i can get to my son before one of us gets flattened by this thing....

next day they completely stopped. official word from the afb was their crews were too tired to keep up their 'security flights' so they were stopping them.

Do you remember how creepy it was seeing NO planes in the sky because they grounded everything? Except for the occassional military jet. That was freaky.

That happened to me one time too, I was doing dishes when they flew over and it was LOUDEST thing I have ever heard....then my idiot roommate comes running in and says "did you hear that!!??" lmfao!

My 3 yo granddaughter and I were laying on trampolene taking a break from bouncing.

No boom. Just a swooshing noise when it was over us. Weird. My granddaughter started screaming "rocket" and crying.

It was almost on top of us before I even heard the thing. I think it was a stealth type jet but I don't know jets. This one was triangular, flat looking and all black. The windows were black and if they had been clear I would have been able to see the pilot clearly. There were no markings and I thought that strange also.

Anyone have any idea what kind this could have been?

Wow, that was it. Thank-you. That happened a while back and I searched for pics but never found it.

It was weird that it was so close and not as loud as would be expected for a jet for that short distance! I guess that is why they call it stealth, huh?

...But yes.. at certain speeds it is easy for them to go unnoticed until their job is done. Which is usually scaring the crap out of civilians.
