I mean certainly this is true you don't need a document to marry someone but there are benefits to getting documents like shared insurance. My wife and I both have good jobs but her insurance is fantastic so I jumped on hers and my job pays me more for vouching out. There are other benefits if you stop and think about it, but to me that just a civil union, a true marriage only matters in the eyes of God not on a piece of paper.
