A spokesman for the provincial government in Zabul confirmed the incident and a Taliban commander said his forces had shot it down. Nato said it was investigating the incident. Zabul government spokesman, Mohhamed Jahn Rasuliyar, said the helicopter had been shot down about 4 miles from the provincial capital of Qalat near the village of Now Haiz, but said he had no word on deaths or injuries. Qari Yusuf Ahmedi, a spokesman for the Taliban insurgency active in the area, said militants had shot down the aircraft around midnight.

Quoting: EpicFail This reminds me of something in the book "Charlie Wilson's War". If you don't want to read the book, the movie is pretty faithful to the story. When the Mujahideen shot down their first Soviet Hind, it was the beginning of the end. Of course it could have been a good shot by a more primitive weapon, like a rifle or machine gun, or even an RPG.
