A short distance off the coast of the remote Micronesian island of Pohnpei lays one of the greatest archeological mysteries in the world, the Lost City of Nan Madol. Built on an ancient coral reef and covering more than 11 square miles, this ancient city is made up of hundreds of artificial islets, intersected by numerous manmade canals. Even more curious, many of the citys larger islands are connected by submerged tunnels. First discovered in the early 1800s by European sailors, this baffling and immense megalithic stone city may contain evidence for the fabled lost continent of MU (LEMURIA). The mysterious Nan Madol is built entirely out of gigantic MAGNETIZED BASALT CRYSTALS (pay attension !!!), some weighting as much as fifty tons. In fact, the entire city contains an estimated 250 million tons of the prismatic basalt rock. How this city came into existence, continues to baffle archeologists. Before the outbreak of World War II, the Japanese administered the strange island. The Japanese investigated a Nan Madol legend that referred to corpses resting in the 'House of the Dead', and allegedly their divers discovered an underwater structure containing elaborate watertight coffins made of pure platinum. Records indicating how much of the platinum may have been removed by the Japanese, or if any of the platinum watertight coffins still exist, has been either hidden away or destroyed in the Second World War. The work is of such scale that it easily compares in scope with the building of the Great Wall of China or the Great Pyramid of Egypt (the average weight of a stone in the Great Pyramid was only three tons). It becomes even more remarkable, however, when you consider that many of the areas current inhabitants live in humble grass huts and not massive stone buildings. What could have possibly caused such a regression of technology and culture in the area? There are no existing records that can answer questions about who built the city, when the city was built, how it was built, or even why it was built. To the Elder gods this would have signified the primeval sea of chaos out of which the first land emerged at the beginning of time. On the edge of this sacred lake were, it seems, tall djed-pillars, carved perhaps in dark stone, while standing close to the banks was an enclosure wall beyond which was a gleaming white temple known as the Mansion of Wetjeset-Neter, the 'place of reeds'. In the shallow waters was a small island, symbolizing the Point of First Creation, crowned with a simple stone structure that proclaimed its immense sanctity. This island is referred to in the Edfu documents as the Island of the Egg or the Island of Trampling, while the stone structure is recalled in the name Place of the Well. Locally we might have found indigenous peoples of the late Paleolithic age tending cultivated lands, herding domesticated wild animals, making beautiful flint tools and using wooden spears to harpoon fish in the nearby river Nile. Yet behind the tall, imposing walls of the sacred enclosure the texts speak of an altogether different kind of person - commanding figures referred to variously as the Shebtiu, the Sages, the Elders and the Falcons. These mythical individuals take the guise of birds, implying perhaps that they were priest-shamans who adorned themselves in bird feathers. They are also said to have had radiant faces that must have made them quite striking in appearance. This strange menagerie of divine beings, who were said to number sixty, are spoken of as netjeru, or divinities.

He went on to say that during year zero "...the Great Masters left the Ugha Mongulala...Before the year zero, men lived like animals, without laws, without clothing..." and that the Great Masters brought "the light" (here we have shades of Prometheus' story of bringing light, or knowledge, from the heavens to humankind.) Before year zero, the continent was "...still flat and soft, like a lamb's back...the Great (Amazon) River still flowed on either side." He continued to explain that sometime before year zero (Tatunca Nara guessed about 3,000 years before) "...glimmering golden ships appeared in the sky. Enormous blasts of fire illuminated the plain. The earth shook and thunder echoed over the hills." The strangers in the golden ships looked like humans with fine features - white skin, bluish-black hair and thick beards. "They (the Ugha Mongulala tribe) had no tools as they did which, as if by magic, SUSPENDED THE HEAVIEST STONES, FLUNG LIGHTING AND MELTED ROCKS." These strangers civilized the tribe and built three great cities of stone called: Akanis, Akakor, and Akahim. The city of Akakor was built up the Purus River in a valley of mountains between Brazil and Peru. Likely locations are the Madre de Dios Province of Peru and the Acre Province of Brazil. "The whole city is surrounded by a high stone wall with thirteen gates...The gates are so narrow they give access only to one person at a time, and the plain in the east is guarded by stone watchtowers where chosen warriors are always on the lookout for enemies. "Akakor is laid out in rectangles. Two intersecting main streets divide the city into four parts corresponding to the four universal points of our Gods...The Temple of the Sun and a stone gate sit on a wide square in the center. The temple faces due east, toward the rising sun, and is decorated with symbolic images of our Former Masters..." Tatunca described the city in great detailed - temples of artfully hewn stones, golden mirrors, life-size stone figures flanking the entrance to the temple, the temple's interior walls covered with relief, and that there is a large stone chest sunk into the front wall of the temple where the first written laws of their Former Masters is located. He said there were another 26 stone cities around Akakor, the largest being Humbaya and Paititi in Boliva, Emin (near the lower reaches of the Great [Amazon] River) and Cadira in the mountains of Venezuela. "...all these (cities) were completely destroyed in the first great catastrophe 13 years before the departure of the Gods." "...The ancient Fathers also erected three (3) sacred temple complexes: Salazere, on the upper reaches of the Great River, Tiahuanaco, on the Great Lake, and Manoa, on the high plain in the south." A giant pyramid was erected in the center of these sacred temple complexes and a broad stairway led up to the platform where ceremonies were conducted. In order to understand this series, it is imperative to read the following work of Lokamanya Bâl Gangâdhar Tilak THE ARCTIC HOME IN THE VEDAS @ [link to www.vaidilute.com] -That human races have preserved their ancient traditions is undoubted, though some or many of them may have become distorted in course of time, and it is for us to see if they do or do not accord with what we know of the ancient man from latest scientific researches. In the case of the Vedic traditions and beliefs, we have the further advantage that they were collected thousands of years ago, and handed down unchanged from that remote time. It is, therefore, not unlikely that we may find traces of the primeval Polar home in these oldest books. If the Aryan man did live within the Arctic circle in early times, especially as a portion of the Ṛig-Veda & Mahabharata is still admittedly unintelligible on any of the existing methods of interpretation, although the words and expressions are plain and simple in many places. The authority for the statement is Manu, I, 67. While describing the divisions of time it says, A year (human) is a day and a night of the Gods; thus are the two divided, the northern passage of the sun is the day and the southern the night.* The day and the night of the Gods are then taken as a unit for measuring longer periods of time as the Kalpas and so on, and Yâskas Nirukta, XIV, 4, probably contains the same reference. Muir, in the first Volume of his Original Sanskrit Texts, gives some of these passages so far as they bear on the yuga-system found in the Purâṇas. But we are not concerned with the later development of the idea that the day and the night of the Gods each lasted for six months. What is important, from our point of view, is the persistent prevalence of this tradition in the Vedic and the Post-Vedic literature, which can only be explained on the hypothesis that originally it must have been the result of actual observation. Mahâbhârata gives a clear description of Mount Meru, the lord of the mountains, as to leave no doubt its being the North Pole, or possessing the Polar characteristics. In chapters 163 and 164 of the Vanaparvan, Arjunas visit to the Mount is described in detail and we are therein told, at Meru the sun and the moon go round from left to right (Pradakṣhiṇam) every day and so do all the stars. Later on the writer informs us: — The mountain, by its lustre, so overcomes the darkness of night, that the night can hardly be distinguished from the day. A few verses further, and we find, The day and the night are together equal to a year to the residents of the place.* These quotations are quite sufficient to convince anyone that at the time when the great epic was composed Indian writers had a tolerably accurate knowledge of the meteorological and astronomical characteristics of the North Pole, and this knowledge cannot be supposed to have been acquired by mere mathematical calculations. The reference to the luster of the mountain is specially interesting, inasmuch as, in all probability, it is a description of the splendors of the Aurora Borealis visible at the North Pole. So far as the Post-Vedic literature is concerned, we have, therefore, not only the tradition of the half-year-long night and day of the Gods persistently mentioned, but the Mount Meru, or the North Pole, is, described with such accuracy as to lead. us to believe that it is an ancient tradition, whose origin must be traced to a time when these phenomena were daily observed by the people; and this is confirmed, by the fact that the tradition is not confined only to the Post-Vedic literature. We shall, therefore, content ourselves with a statement of such facts as plainly indicate the reminiscence of an ancient Arctic home in the traditional literature of the Greek, Roman, Celtic, Teutonic and Slavonic branches of the Aryan race. We must examine the ancient traditions and beliefs of the race, incorporated in such admittedly oldest Aryan books, as the Vedas (RIG-VEDA, MAHABHARATA, etc.) and the Avesta, and see if they justify us in predicating the inter-glacial existence of the Aryan people.

Here in brief, are the views entertained by Hindu orthodox theologians, scholars and philosophers in regard to the origin, character and authority of the Vedas; and on comparing them with the results of our investigation, it will be found that Patanjalis and Vyâsas view about the antiquity and the eternity of the Vedas derives material support from the theory of the Arctic home which we have endeavored to prove in the foregoing pages on strict scientific and historical grounds. It has been shown that Vedic religion and worship are both inter-Glacial; and that though we cannot trace their ultimate origin, yet the Arctic character of the Vedic deities fully proves that the powers of Nature represented by them had been already clothed with divine attributes by the primitive Aryans in their original home round about the North Pole, or the Meru of the Purâas. When the Polar home was destroyed by glaciation, the Aryan people that survived the catastrophe carried with them as much of their religion and worship as it was possible to do under the circumstances; and the relic, thus saved from the general wreck, was the basis of the Aryan religion in the post-Glacial age. The whole period from the commencement of the post-Glacial era to the birth of Buddha may, on this theory, be approximately divided into four parts: — 10000 or 8000 B.C. — The destruction of the original Arctic home by the last Ice Age and the commencement of the post-Glacial period. 8000-5000 B.C. — The age of migration from the original home. The Survivors of the Aryan race roamed over the northern parts of Europe and Asia in search of lands suitable for new settlements. The vernal equinox was then in the constellation of Punarvasû, and as Aditi is the presiding deity of Punarvasû, therefore, be called the Aditi or the Pre-Orion Period. 5000-3000 B.C. — The Orion Period, when the vernal equinox was in Orion. Many Vedic hymns can be traced to the early part of this period and the bards of the race, seem to have not yet forgotten the real import or significance of the traditions of the Arctic home inherited by them. It was at this time that first attempts to reform the calendar and the sacrificial system appear to have been systematically made. 3000-1400 B.C. — The ittikâ Period, when the vernal equinox was in Pleiades. The Taittirîya hitâ and the Brâhma as, which begin the series of nakhatras with the Kittikâs, are evidently the productions of this period. The compilation of the hymns into Sahitâs also appears, to be a work of the early part of this period. The traditions about the original Arctic home had grown dim by this time and very often misunderstood, making the Vedic hymns more and more unintelligible. The sacrificial system and the numerous details thereof found in the Brâhmaṇas seem to have been developed during this, time. From the legends mentioned, or referred to, or described above, it may be easily seen that many traces of the Arctic calendar are still discernible in the mythology of the western Aryan races like Celts, Teutons, Lets, Slavs, Greeks and Romans. In the ig-Veda § I, 24, 10 the constellation of Ursa Major is described as being placed high (uchhâh), and, as this can refer only to the altitude of the constellation, it follows that it must then have been over the head of the observer, which is possible only in the Circum-Polar regions. The evidence mainly consists of direct passages from the Vedas and the Avesta, proving unmistakably that the poets of the;ig-Veda & Mahabharata were acquainted with the climatic conditions witnessable only in the Arctic regions. The first picture simply depicts that they had a halo over their heads. We do too, it's just invisible to our sight. :)
