Anonymous Coward User ID: 947614 United States 04/19/2010 05:15 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I started collecting Coca-Cola rewards points at first because I wanted to get free stuff or enter sweepstakes considering all the money I spend. I donate the tabs to Children's Cancer Treatment Hospitals and we recycle the cardboard and cans. The cans we in turn buy energy efficient products to maintain our home. Quoting: So enter in those codes! 792534So you can imagine when I went to enter in points, how happy I was to see that you can donate your points to the worthy cause of cleaning up a major toilet in the Pacific Ocean. Coca-Cola will match proceeds donated up to $25,000. If you find it in your heart then hold on to those points and give them back to yourself in the biggest of ways. Donate. they wont market a regular sugar cola, its always high fructose corn syrup which some say is mildly toxic over time. |

Ok, but Coca-Cola sells Minute Maid orange juice and a apple juice product as well. Not to mention it is Coca-Cola racks up a lot of sales. My Earth conscious friends retrieve points from work areas, discarded bottles in parking lots and family/friends who also want to contribute. I have even gone so far as to find them in garbage cans. Then the caps are sent for recycling. YOU CAN DO IT! |

Forgive me, but 25K, they can take one driver and be able to take his wages and donate at least $50k instead. This is sad, one has to wonder how many coke containers are in that pile. They should donate a million or two. Think about the stock options the upper management receives yearly. No wonder I don't drink coke products. |

And you dont have to drink coke products to recognize points lying around. If we do nothing, then we are not better than a company we criticize for not doing enough. |

Seamus User ID: 941153 United States 04/19/2010 05:38 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | For the year 2009, Coca Cola had gross revenues of ALMOST $31,000,000,000 (31 Billion dollars). They contribute tons and tons of plastics to the world, many of which end up in the 'Pacific Garbage Dump'. Generous, Coke is. A Whopping less than 1/10,000 of 1% of their yearly revenues they will contribute (provided their customers contribute in kind) to clean up a mess that is in some ways their responsibility. Don't believe it? Try to find Coke in a recyclable Glass bottle. Interestingly I did find Coke just last week selling glass bottles by the case. The Coke was a product of Mexico. 24 twelve ounce bottles were $25 plus deposit. They'll sell lots of bottles at that rate. 'When Plunder becomes a way of life for a group of men, they create for themselves, in the course of time, a legal system that authorizes it and a moral code that glorifies it.' Frederic Bastiat, 'The Law' 1850 ++++++++++++++++++++++++++ "The business of the journalists is to destroy the truth, to lie outright, to pervert, to vilify, to fawn at the feet of mammon, and to sell his country and his race for his daily bread. You know it and I know it, and what folly is this toasting an independent press? We are the tools and vassals of rich men behind the scenes. We are the jumping jacks, they pull the strings and we dance. Our talents, our possibilities and our lives are all the property of other men. We are intellectual prostitutes." JohnSwinton, 1830-1901, Former chief-of-staff New York Times ++++++++++++++++++++++++++ "The bold effort the present bank has made to control the Government, the distress it has wantonly produced ... are but premonitions of the fate that awaits the American People should they be deluded into a perpetuation of this institution (The Bank of the United States), or the establishment of another like it." Andrew Jackson (December 2, 1834) |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 947068 United States 04/19/2010 05:59 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Never, they still produce stuff with HFCS and there would be no way I would trust them to do anything right. JONES Soda is HFCS free and if the store I shop at doesn't have them I leave the buggy in the middle of the isle and go somewhere else. I would have to go somewhere else anyway why not shop at a place that cares about their patrons. |
Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 792534 United States 04/19/2010 06:03 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I wonder how many of those plastic soda can rings floating around in the ocean used to be wrapped around Coca Cola cans. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 947739Turtle turned into Figure 8, By 6-pack plastic rings [link to greensboring.com] Who bought the products in the first place? You think Coca-Cola is soley responsible for this mess? Think again. You should do a little digging. There are multiple causes and very few options to start the clean up process. Some serious causes to this patch include citizen dumping among others. What we need to do is accept some of the blame and the responsibility. Who of you here are responsibly recycling every day? Any of you starting gardens or picking up trash on your roads and sending it to recycling? Are any of you starting compost bins or even cutting up your plastic rings before you throw them away(if your not recycling). How many of you are still using plastic shopping bags and not returning them to the grocer shopping receptacle? Well about ten percent of the problem in the Pacific is made up of just those plastic bags. I know its easy to get mad, but focus the energy on being part of the solution. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 926707 United States 04/19/2010 06:08 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It's the Phosphorus and the Aspartame in the diet and reg drinks that makes sodas so damn dangerous. Phosphorus can leach the calcium out of your bones over a given period of time and lead to bone breaks. The aspartame is definitely not good for you. It can lead to insulin resistance which is a serious problem. |

I'm just asking those who can get the points, to donate them to a good cause. Gosh. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 792534And I bet you believe that all the monies collected for 911 and Katrina were given out like they said they were. Same with Haiti, unless you take the money yourself or donate to a organization with an outstanding reputation (Coke - NOT) you are really just making yourself feel better while you finance the destruction of society. Healthcare made me realize that our health is our responsibility and they have been abusing us for quite a long time. HFCS along with all the other fda crap is killing us. I'm more natural and I'm not a tree hugger, I walk the walk instead of requesting someone else to walk it for me. |

They don't allow aspertame either, most use stevia which is a mint that has a sweeten taste but our Friggin FDA won't alow that to be used as a sweetener. Stevia has remarkable pieces for those with diabeties but our ^&*(_ FDA won't allow it. SHUT THAT DAMN THING DOWN |
