I second the Gerber LMF II Infantry Knife. I have this knife and it is awesome to say the least. I found that it's cheapest on Amazon:

Since you probably don't know much about edged tools, I'd recommend something simple and to the point:
Try the Cold Steel Bushman. It costs about $30 on Amazon, and is a good all around blade. It is made of one solid piece of high carbon (the best) steel, and the handle is hollow so that you can simply pop in a sapling, broom stick, or any straight shaft to make a fully functioning spear. Very handy as a quick defense/offense weapon.
