Mexicali-BC April 8 of 2010 (Cicese-Morning call Venegas):

Mexicali epicenter
In the later days to the earthquake of 7. 2 degrees in the scale of Richter that registered Sunday 4 of April throughout the Cucapah Mountain range, and that felt widely in the main cities of the north of Baja California and to the south of the United States, the brigades of the Division of Sciences of the Earth they are working in the Valley of Mexicali, including the zone where small sand volcanos are being reported that has formed throughout fractures and springs of water with sulfurous scent and reddish color, some of confused them with geysers.

On the matter, the Dr. Thin Luis Argote, director of the Division of Sciences of the Earth, explained that these manifestations must to the liquefaction phenomenon, that is to say, solid particles or sediments are transported as if they were liquid by the effect of the air or water that happens through the interstices or the communication of pores. The geyser, said, is a term that is applied to an atmosphere where there is volcanic activity, which does not apply in this particular case because the energy involved in the phenomenon is by non thermal movement and.

The presence of small sand volcanos, of an average meter and of diameter or minors, aligned throughout the zones where there have been breaking, is manifestations that appear commonly in sedimentary lands where the main component is sands, the slime and clays, that are not compacted or litificados. During a seismic event there are phenomena of compression and extension; when there is compression the pores between the sediments must expel the air or water that contains in vertical sense and directs or canalizes throughout fractures, at the end of the surface which we are going to observe are these volcancitos of sand.

About the reports of water with sulfurous scent and reddish color, it indicated that they are in the hope of data of field and on the chemical composition of the water, although of way they are interpreting preliminary it like an event of liquefaction produced in clay materials rich and combined with rich sulphur waters. “It is happening something similar to the small volcanos that are forming throughout fractures, but in this case which produces the liquefaction phenomenon no longer is air but water and, like is happening closely together of the epicenter zone, relatively near the geothermal Dark Hill field, where the sulfur content is greater and the sediments are rich in clay (material very fine that when they are combined with the water give that reddish color)”, detailed doctor Delgado Argote.

It indicated that although until the moment the water is not considered dangerous, to have losses sulphur concentrations, it is not potable water and he is not advisable to put in her.

As far as the presence of retorts, it indicated that these will occur of continuous way and will be lowering of magnitude that dates to it have been from minors to 2,5 degrees to 4 and which at the moment they are more frequent to the north of the border, although there is some important in ejido Victory, more near the epicenter.

It detailed that with the earthquake of Sunday 4 of the April, greatest than it has been registered in the instrumental history of the seismic of Baja California, entered activity a region where a seismic activity had been had loss, although structures of faults exist that have mapped years in the last. Historically, it said, the seismic activity throughout the Cucapah Mountain range is until certain unexpected point. Also it considered the magnitude of the event, because the unique report that was had of an earthquake of similar magnitude was at the end of the century ancestor, in 1890 important.

Ramiro investigator Rodriguez Castle, into the Institute of Geophysical of the UNAM, informed that more than 100 craters than they formed after the earthquake of 7,2 degrees in Mexicali, are product of the liquefaction and nongeysers as he thought.

In an official notice of the Independent National University of Mexico (UNAM), the expert of the Department of Natural Resources in Baja California explained that phenomenon takes place when there is intense a telluric movement with strong accelerations in a zone where great water saturation exists in the sediments.

Guest by the scientific committee that analyzed the affected zones, Rodriguez Castle concluded that during the tremor the movement of particles of the subsoil is liquefied with the water of the sediments, which besides giving name to the phenomenon, exerts pressure that derives in the crater formation similar to anthills.

The investigator exposed that they were hundreds of these formation, arisen from almost simultaneous way to the happened earthquake Sunday 4 of April in Mexicali, those that generated floods in houses of great part of the southern communities of the State Capital.

He abounded that in spite of the size of the formation, that they do not exceed 1,50 meters of radio and one height superior to the 30 centimeters, the ground softened and following the material of the constructions, reported collapses among 20 centimeters and a meter of depth.

Rodriguez Castle assured that by the materials of which they were done, some houses of adobe were colapsaron whereas others only registered collapses.

Also it presented that because the small craters were developed throughout 30 or 40 meters, was given rise to a “interesting and little common geologic phenomenon” that it has been registered previously in Japan and the United States.

It added that after realising a diagnosis of the zone, the scientific committee issued two technical rulings that allowed the government of the state to make decisions to confront the crisis by a natural disaster.

the Mass Media isn't reporting a damn thing on this.

Glass broken, a couple of buildings collapsed and power was out for a few days. That's all they say.

What they didn't report is that there are cracks in the road, some splits are 3-4 feet apart, how deep? who knows.

Everyone locally keeps reporting that water keeps coming up through the cracks, and it smells like sulfur. There are reports of mini-volcanos, a small protrusion in the ground or in roads that protrudes 2-5 feet that eminates a sulfur smell.

Yet.

Not one news outlet is reporting it.

The sulfur alone is a troublesome indicator...

BUT, water pouring out from these mini volcanos is something to be concerned about. It means the "water table" is being affected.

Oh, it's in Mexico (Mexicali) so it's unimportant.. right?

Underground water tables run in various directions. Water from Mexicali could be coming from Calexico or Arizona... or vice versa

It means that the water table is being affected, or worst case.. changed.

Bump & Pin something is going on down there beneath the surface to make these mini volcanoes and its quite terrible that the news says absaloutley nothing about this, ill tell you why cus they know the end times is approaching, they are told by scientists and TPTB that they cant report stuff like this to the public or 'fear will spread' but its ok for them to know so they can prepare in enough time while we battle it out when it all happens , im telling you all the signs are starting to match .

Not too unusual. Paricutin was witnessed at it's very birth
while a farmer was plowing his field. That field is now on the

That happened in 1943.

Went down there and got some newspapers (will take some time to scan and post).

Direct from a source...

"MANY agricultural fields are ruined because the sulfur has come to the surface and penetrated all the crops."

I've see two (2) such fields.

This is nothing to ignore.

here they talk about huge columns of sulfuric water
[link to babelfish.yahoo.com]

Geysers appear in Mexicali after earthquake
The tremor of 7,2 Richter degrees that shook to Mexicali past Sunday brought about the appearance of geysers in the zone of the Valley.
The director of Civil defense of the State, Alfredo Escobedo, mentioned that the hot water columns could be due to a thermal water bank that there are in the zone.
Escobedo advanced that geologists of the Scientific Education and Research center will go Superior of Cove, as well as personal of the Secretariat of Communications and Transports and of the Federal Commission of Electricity to analyze the situation.

Baja California separates of the continent by earthquakes
He assures Geophysical the UNAM that the Peninsula of Baja California is going to end up separating of the continent by the continuous movement of the tectonic plates

CITY OF MEXICO, Mexico, abr. 13, 2010. - With the passage of the years, by the earthquakes, the Peninsula of Baja California will separate of the rest of the country.'

Luis Quintanar, head of the department of the Seismology of the department of Geophysical of the Independent National University of Mexico (UNAM), asserted that “the Peninsula of Baja California is going to end up separating of the continent by this same effect of the continuous movement of the tectonic plates”.
-When he is going to happen?
“Within several thousands of million years”, he clarified the specialist.

And he is that with each Earth movement, by the earthquakes, there are almost imperceptible millimetre-length separations.

Although the earthquakes of Chile and Baja California did not cause the same.

“If we considered that the earthquake of Chile, that is completely exceptional, magnitude 8,8, it produced a shortening of the day in millionth of second, which is imperceptible, evidently these earthquakes as the one of Haiti or Mexicali also can produce that effect, but in the case of Chile were millionth of second, in the case of these earthquakes are much smaller, practically despicable to want to be considered”, indicated Luis Quintanar.

The specialist explained because they continue themselves registering up to 200 daily retorts, almost imperceptible, after the earthquake in Mexicali:

“The reason is because basically it was an earthquake of an unusual magnitude, we are speaking that is a magnitude 7,2, compared with the average of the magnitude of the earthquakes in that zone that go from 5 to 6”.

It said that it is only coincidence that in which it goes of 2010, has appeared earthquakes of important magnitude in Haiti, Chile, Japan, Mexico, and now Tibet.

“What the Earth is saying to us, it is that it is an alive planet… are involved different tectonic plates, therefore, a relation does not exist cause-effect between an earthquake and another one”, assured.

It reiterated that the present measurements do not allow to know when and where it will happen an earthquake, and much less its magnitude can be known.

The important thing, said, is to reinforce the measures of civil defense and that the citizenship report always by the suitable routes.

Yep, Cerro Prieto is a geo-thermal field where they've drilled down to the hot zone of a "dormant" volcano to produce power. Been around for years and they're expanding. Doesn't seem so dormant anymore does it?

I don't know if this video has been posted before, but it is far better than the one that was jiggly and everyone was cheering 'spring break!'.

This shows that by all that dust, only the mountains themselves were really moving, (other than the shock waves that moved out) this must be the fault that ruptured.
