All of these items are pulverized and made into dry feed through a process called rendering. Come on! |

Something about rendering plants turning them into protien for cow feed. Road kill too. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 955219I had switched to buffalo for many reasons before going vegetarian. Good for you. I was a vegetarian years ago only because my girlfriend was one, but after reading this article, I'm not eating meat again. Like the article says consumers who get sick from eating America’s beef will soon no longer be an anomaly, but the general rule. And get this: animal-feed manufacturers and farmers use dehydrated food garbage — fats emptied from restaurant fryers and grease traps, cement-kiln dust, newsprint and cardboard derived from plant cellulose, and even human sewage sludge. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 799385 United States 04/29/2010 10:13 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | You need to purchase your 'meat' from a local farmer you know, who lets their livestock graze without access to feedlots. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 901085It is also cheaper in the long run because you cut out the supermarket price gouging. It's no wonder to me that beef, chicken, and pork no longer have the flavor it once had. It's nearly tasteless. I read some time back, that in certain hog farms (Japan), the hogs are farmed in stacked cages. The ones on the bottom get the poop from the top and feed on it. Ugh. I wish we had animal farms close by. It may be possible to buy beef that comes from free range sources on the internet, but it's awfully expensive. Fresh fish from ocean catches might be better. "Corn-fed" beef is an iffy thing. They may be eating GMO corn, hogs as well. . |

SpaceCommand User ID: 911549 United States 04/29/2010 11:16 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | This is another disgusting set of issues that illustrates the controlled media, and a brain dead congress. For that matter universally brain dead legislatures of both States and Counties are apparent. Are we taxed and unrepresented, does that sound familiar? It is no wonder polls are at an all time low for politicians. A strong and free United States as may have at one time been the case, would not tolerate this disgrace. And to make matters worse of you complain about existing conditions you are a "terrorist." But if you agree to the lies and fictional pretexts, you are supported by this so called system. William Wordsworth And yet the same revolutionary beliefs for which our forebears fought are still at issue around the globe—the belief that the rights of man come not from the generosity of the state, but from the hand of God. John F. Kennedy Inaugural Address Lincoln's economic advisor Henry C. Carey explained the universal issue in his 1851 Harmony of Interests: "Two systems are before the world.... One looks to pauperism, ignorance, depopulation, and barbarism; the other to increasing wealth, comfort, intelligence, combination of action, and civilization. One looks towards universal war; the other towards universal peace. One is the English system; the other ... the American system, for ... elevating while equalizing the condition of man throughout the world." Cows are herbivores and should not be fed meat at all. How can this allowed? I do eat meat but not much since my bf is a vegetarian and he does the bulk of the cooking. I will print this out and pass it along. I am disgusted. I had heard about the process of cows being fed cows and that this was suspect in Mad Cows Disease, I thought this was stopped, I guess not. Thanks for posting. |

We get the powers over us that we've earned collectively. Humanity, as a whole, is self-interested, shallow, ignorant, violent and immoral; small wonder, therefore, that our leaders (secret or otherwise) reflect that. You want better leaders, become better people. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 679335Where does one get good food for their pets? What can I feed Cat? Many pet owners are aware that if an animal is sick, they heal quickly by feeding raw meat, often known as the B.A.R.F. diet. It stands to reason this is a diet they should stay on for maintaining good health. Only problem, it can get pretty expensive, especially if fed meat from animals that grazed on pastures. You can always buy the chicken at chain grocery stores for cheap prices, but you are back to feeding them meat from animals that have lived in deplorable conditions, suffering great pain at the pet's expense. Even the high dollar dog foods sold at vets are suspect. Check this out. |
