Quoting: Mel 954970[link to en.wikipedia.org] Yes, you may feel worse before you feel better, depending on the source of infection. The other thing to be careful about when taking potent antibiotics comes from the body-wide systematic annihilation of beneficial flora that may actually protect you from nasty pathogens. There are a number of bacteria types in the gut and intestines which are vital for the digestion of various substances...(lactose...etc...) and for the overall ecological balance of your body. When you take antibiotic substances, pay attention to the way your body is reacting and be careful to replenish the helpful microorganisms in your body by eating probiotic substances like quality yoghurt or kombucha or whatever. Try not to go overboard with antibiotics...take them as long as you need to, if you absolutely need to... but not any longer. There are also a number of plant based antimicrobial supplements/herbal medicines which may be of use, and/or cheaper than your current medication...but it really depends upon the source of your infection and what you're trying to accomplish. |

Why thank you. I tried a couple of herbal home remedies (essential oils) but the pain was too much for me (tooth infection) so I had to go to the doc. I very rarely take antibiotics so I know nothing about them. |
