But since everyone had the right, the offended person could also share HIS opinion which the original speaker could find offensive. So really, EVERYONE WAS EQUAL - then. Those days are over though. Now some speech is considered too hateful. Too incendiary. Too vicious. So, just watch TV. Listen to the Radio. Read the Newspaper. The media ONLY plays with words and phrases that are considered non-hateful and therefore still protected. And of course, schools still promote safe speech that doesn't hurt anyone. Like this: "Hello Ms. Greenstein's 2nd grade Class! Today is exciting! You are going to find out if you are a homosexual today! You will learn how to sexually satisfy your friends with your mouth, your vagina and your anus!! Exploration is fun! Here, first we'll watch this video and then we'll discuss how they were able to do what they did on the TV screen, OK guys? Remember: Safe Sex is Good Sex!!" 'When Plunder becomes a way of life for a group of men, they create for themselves, in the course of time, a legal system that authorizes it and a moral code that glorifies it.' Frederic Bastiat, 'The Law' 1850 ++++++++++++++++++++++++++ "The business of the journalists is to destroy the truth, to lie outright, to pervert, to vilify, to fawn at the feet of mammon, and to sell his country and his race for his daily bread. You know it and I know it, and what folly is this toasting an independent press? We are the tools and vassals of rich men behind the scenes. We are the jumping jacks, they pull the strings and we dance. Our talents, our possibilities and our lives are all the property of other men. We are intellectual prostitutes." JohnSwinton, 1830-1901, Former chief-of-staff New York Times ++++++++++++++++++++++++++ "The bold effort the present bank has made to control the Government, the distress it has wantonly produced ... are but premonitions of the fate that awaits the American People should they be deluded into a perpetuation of this institution (The Bank of the United States), or the establishment of another like it." Andrew Jackson (December 2, 1834) |
