Breaking: Texas oil RIG on fire...not the same as refinery fire | |
weegie (OP) User ID: 960186 United Kingdom 05/05/2010 07:19 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | nd no i'm not going to try living in the "petro-chem-refinery belt"....it's a non-natural disaster waiting to happen. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 950567post some links to multiple rigs catching on fire/leaking gas on a weekly basis or stfu. Admittedly, you have no first-hand experience in this area, yet you continue to yammer. And, quite apparently, you have no idea what you are yammering about because it was a truck that exploded at a refinery (apparently didn't follow grounding protocol) and a natural gas leak. So, until you actually know what you are talking about, why don't you STFU... If you are trying to imply that the leak was "natural" you are mistaken. This is NOT gas leaking from a crack in the ground...it is spewing from an out-of-control rig. It is probably more correct to call the rig a "gas rig" than an "oil rig", but most people don't bother to distinguish between the two. I'm not familiar with this particular rig, but most rigs in this area are actually for natural gas rather than oil. |

And that's just in the GOM. Did you hear about all of those? No. Do you believe you will hear about all those on land? You shouldn't because you won't. If a tree falls in a forest and no one...... |

It is a wild well (uncontrolled) from, well, a well. The rig is the structure that blew up and sunk. . |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 950567Come hell or high water, someone wants a real revolt from with in this country. There seems way to many different items happening at the same time, why is the question? What are they really trying to do or better yet hide? You guys do understand this shit goes on all the time in TX and LA, right? . I don't believe they do understand. Just this drilling rig explosion is drawing attention to things making them seem out of the norm, when they are in fact normal. It's Texas. It's hot. There's static in the air down south right now as the air is very dry. Shit happens! If there was someone really wanting to do some damage to the industry, they wouldn't be hitting these small rigs. They'd be hitting one of two ports that could shut down half the nation. Houston and Corpus Christi. A drilling rig in Brownsville is hardly "big" news. |

No, Iwas using the term to describe an actual substance "natural gas" (NG)....the gas that is drilled. [link to en.wikipedia.org] I was not implying the leak was natural. However, the leak to which I was actually referring is from the NG well in Boca Chica. |

Yes but you referenced "spewing from an out of control rig", and the only thing that was out-of-control is the Horizon well. |

It was shocking, and still is. Humans can do terrible things to themselves and to others. Committing suicide is not a solution! |
