Indeed -- best things folks can do if they are concerned about the environment and their impact is to stick a gun to their head and pull the trigger -- those who use petroleum based products are ultimately responsible for this fiasco.
As to whether use Corexit or Dispersit -- the choice was to use that one for which their is most available on hand, that which has the longest track record and that which tends to concentrate the damage on site, ie at sea than than which tends to drift inland so as to minimize onshore and estuary impact.
Had BP used Dispersit -- this blog would be all wrapped around the harmful effects of Corexit. It's a "can't win" dilemma for BP, for the oceans, for the estuaries and for all of humanity -- and in the grand scheme of things, it ain't nothing!
And come next week -- and yet another natural disaster -- the news and our eyes will all be focused elsewhere... except for those who can parlay the spill for profit, power or prestige.
