This is not a lot of oil in terms of peak oil or anything like that, but the oil slick is very thin and spreads out very easily

Bullshit. this is the largest oil well ever drilled. Contains several BILLION barrels. Would change the oil balance of power if it had gone on line.

A huge oil well heretofore would have been around 400 million barrels. To have one with 4-5 billion barrels in it is simply inconceivable to the oil barons.

Lots of reasons for sabotage.
And actually that is prolly the smallest one.

if its' a fossil fuel this implies

there were a lot of plants and/or dinosaurs 6 miles in the earth at some point

b) if they were at the surface, then the earth went through epic dramatic disasters which displaced life to those underwater zones.

either way, if you think about it, means we are doomed!!!!!!

oil spill or not

Thats why I say the use of oil is outdated ... we gotta get off this planet and become a space nomad society ... if we make it till then (which I doubt) we have to get away from here before the sun goes super-nova, better a few million years sooner ... and in space oil is a fuel you can do shit with ... cold fusion and stuff like that is what we should put our research in ... but as long as oil coorporations can make money with oil the alternative energy sources will not be explored. Thats why I say: the sooner the oil is gone the sooner mankind has to research the alternative sources of energy.

Re: The question nobody is asking about this oil spill in the gulf...
So, for years and years, we have been warned about peak oil... we have been told that the oil is running out...

And NOW we are being told that the oil spill will cover the entire Gulf of Mexico in less than 4 months...

The QUESTION is... WHERE did all this oil come from? How many dinosaurs does it take to produce enough oil to cover the entire Gulf of Mexico in less time than it takes to conclude a court case?

Re: The question nobody is asking about this oil spill in the gulf...
The hydrocarbons that formed oil were deposited here by countless comet impacts during the planet's formation. During accretion these lighter elements rose near the surface and became trapped as the earth's crust cooled. For decades Russian geologists have known of the possibility of reservoirs with volumes equaling that of the Great Lakes at depths of 20 to 30 thousand feet. This primordial oil is under tremendous pressure with 5 miles of crust sitting on top of it. The big secret held for years by the petroleum industry is why wells in some areas that have been pumped dry gradually refill as if fed from a deeper source. The recent spill in the Gulf is finally going to let the cat out of the bag. It is not going to stop. Although BP and their contractors are directly responsible, this disaster must be addressed immediately by we the human species for our very existence is at risk. There may be enough oil beneath the Gulf floor to render the earth's oceans incapable of supporting life, a bell that tolls the end of us all.

I don't believe oil is a fossil fuel. It's a substance that the earth is constantly producing.
