QUESTION: If you knew that an ice age was impending and had the power to do something about it, what steps would you take to prevent it? I figure you would probably pump as much greenhouse gas into the atmosphere as possible.

Step 1 - burn as much fossil fuel as possible to increase CO2 concentration in atmosphere - CHECK

Step 2 - transition from CFCs to hydrofluorocarbons which have higher global warming potential (400-4000 times that of CO2) - CHECK (see [link to www.sciencedirect.com] and [link to elib.dlr.de]

Step 3 - release potent greenhouse gases such as SF5CF3 (19,000 times the global warming potential of CO2) into atmosphere - CHECK (see [link to www.sciencedirect.com] and [link to www.abc.net.au]

Step 4 - release methane stored in the earth (70 times the global warming potential of CO2) into atmosphere. This requires the deliberate destruction of an active drilling operation. If all the methane in the Deepwater Horizon spill (see Thread: 8,956 BILLION CUIC FEET OF GAS etimated to be in Mississippi Canyon Block 252!!!!!!!!!!!! were released into the atmosphere we would see a 30 ppm, or 2%, increase in methane concentration. VERY SIGNIFICANT, ESPECIALLY GIVEN THE FACT THAT METHANE IS A MUCH MORE POTENT GREENHOUSE GAS THAN CO2

Put the pieces together folks. There is an ice age coming and a tremendous effort is underway to stop it. Collateral damage is irrelevant. What's a few hundred million barrels of oil in 340 billion billion gallons of seawater compared to the devastation caused by an ice age?


Interesting except that you give no proof of knowledge by ANYONE that an ICE AGE is coming. Don't point to the weather because it is a known fact that governments around the planet are manipulating it, so how the weather is behaving is not indicative any longer.



Easy, there are NO real sun spots considering the MAXIMUM is 2 years away. The Past indicates from ice core samples that a short term ice age was around ~ 250 years ago? Anyway sun spot records so date back fairly far and the last time we had an inactive MAXIMUM was around the last short term ice age ~ 50 to ~100 years long. Get out your woolies. Check out the book titled "The Cooling" from 1976.
