Arizona threatening to stop selling power to California in response to boycotts over 1070 Just saw on ABCNews15 in Phoenix...looking through their website for link to it. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 854310Considering Arizona provides a whole lot of power to California from the Palo Verde Nuclear plant and from part of the Hoover Dam(Hoover Dam separates Nevada and Arizona and is only a few miles from CA) let's see if they like their brownouts and blackouts as much as they do their illegal immigrants. Lol. I wish they would just kiss and make up. |

It's called The Colorado River. Central Arizona Project. Runs right through AZ and Grand Canyon. |

Arizona threatening to stop selling power to California in response to boycotts over 1070 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 854310 PHOENIX -- Last week, Los Angeles officially boycotted Arizona to send a message about the state's new immigration law. Now, the Arizona Corporation Commission is sending back a message of their own. On Tuesday, Commissioner Gary Pierce wrote a letter to the Los Angeles Mayor and City Council. He said the intention was to "call them out," and see if they are committed to truly cut off all Arizona resources. "I don't think they thought this through," Pierce said. "There are consequences that involve energy." Across Arizona, Los Angeles gets 25 percent of its power from three plants, including the Palo Verde Nuclear Station. The state can't literally pull the plug as the city owns the power. But if tough-talking Los Angeles officials really decide to go through with this boycott fully, then they will have to go without this electricity. "You can't call a boycott on the candy store and then pick and choose the candy you really want," Pierce said. "You either boycott or you don't." However, Los Angeles councilmembers have been perhaps the most outspoken about Senate Bill 1070. "We want them to be the last state to do this," Councilmember Janice Hahn said after the city first threatened boycotts. "We think we have a lot of leverage over that state." "This is not a paper resolution. It is real," added Councilmember Ed Reyes after the boycott was approved. When the Los Angeles City Council made their vote, they were given a report that contained information about the city's contracts with Arizona. It did not include agreements about water and power. "I think this boycott is going to backfire," Pierce said. "And they are just going to want it to go away." After the letter was sent, the Arizona Corporation Commission said by the end of the day, they received dozens of calls and more than 100 emails in support from officials of 18 different states. |

Arizona threatening to stop selling power to California in response to boycotts over 1070 BREAKING BREAKING BREAKING ~yawn~ Mayhaps it would be a tidy bit good to read up a little before pushing the BREAKING button, no? The "story" is about a letter written by one member of the Arizona Corporation Commission to the LA mayor's office offering the suggestion that renegotiating the power agreements might make be a quid pro quo for the mayor signing onto AZ boycotts. But don't take my word for it, read the damn thing yourself here: [link to hotair.com] BTW, it's a joke, AZ power needs the revenue. |

Arizona threatening to stop selling power to California in response to boycotts over 1070 I see the Feds moving to control all energy and water. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 352998this is how it will start. keep your eye on the ball! You ain't seen nuthin yet. APS (backbone power supply for SW) is installing sat read meters for reading and billing centers in India. They've INUNDATED their ranks with east Indians and phased out by retirement packages and layoffs, most of their American citizens, except lineman. Lineman are working with skeleton crews because APS is losing about $3M per month in revenue from foreclosed homes and cancelled construction. They've linked every meter to it's transformer, and every transformer to it's substation. They're multi-looped so can route power just about any way they want, and have phase identified all lines. It's all on GIS and all controlled by computer. It's called the DOMS Project, and Pinnacle West is the parent company. Billing information requires SS# or no power for customers but do not verify the numbers as legitimate. The database of meter numbers, electrical use, addresses, SS#'s, names and phone numbers has been shipped to India billing centers. Now all hadji has to do is pick his nose while gets a sat read and punches in an order for a bill go out to the customer. It's a showdown waiting to happen, and people there should get generators. One July or August power failure, and everyone south of the Mogollon Rim (pronounced mugeeyon) is dead of heat stroke. |
