I don't know, mate. That is a pretty manipulative video. I saw maybe 5 or 6 truly racist signs. You would have had a better argument if you claimed that, based on the signs, all Tea Partiers are clinically insane.

And that is out of thousands and thousands of signs at rallies. Find me a video with just one random sign after another from a Tea Party, and it would probably take ten minutes to find the first insane sign. That video is created to manipulate, not to present the truth.

As I've said, I've been to several Tea Parties, only on the East Coast, and they've generally been very friendly and well-behaved. Admittedly, mostly white, but definitely not exclusively so, and I have never once seen race brought up.

I'm a Tea Partier. There are people better versed in the underlying philosophy than myself, no doubt, but seeing as the Rand haters are out in full force on GLP, I welcome you to tell me your complaints about his politics, and I will dismantle your arguments piece by piece.


Why will he not support Israel? Is Rand Paul as anti-Semitic as his father, or is he worse?


I'm going to be words in his mouth here, since I don't know his exact stance on Israel, but I am assuming it his similar to his father's.

He would maintain a friendly relationship with Israel, just like he would with any other country that does not threaten the U.S. Open commerce and exchange, but allow them to deal with their regional problems as they see fit. Don't give them foreign aid, but don't give anyone else foreign aid either. Don't tie their hands with intrusive rules, but don't make outrageous promises. Treat them with the respect and distance that should be accorded all sovereign nations.

If private citizens want to send aid to Israel, that's their choice and their right. If they want to be pro-Israel or anti-Israel or even speak anti-Semitic creeds, that is their right under the 1st amendment as well.

This whole notion that someone is anti-Semitic if they don't commit all their nation's resources to the protection of Israel is ridiculous. Israel is a nation, not a person. They should be treated as a nation, and calling someone anti-Semitic for criticizing the policies of the nation of Israel should be seen as ridiculous as calling someone racist for criticizing the policies of an African country.

Did you read my post? I said in principle I think people "shouldn't" vote if they do not understand government.

Actually, I think the real rule should be you should only be able to vote if you pay taxes. If you do not pay taxes or just receive money from the government, you should not be allowed to have a voice in how that money is spent, since you did not pay into the system, and inevitably, people receiving money will vote for politicians promising them more money.

Once there are more people receiving than paying, it is a game theory certainty that the receivers will milk the systems until it and payers are bankrupt.

I think we already basically there, so this rule is probably two decades too late.

Well, I do discriminate. Just not on race, sex, creed, etc.

But then all human beings discriminate. It is a basic function of making decisions.

As for your definition of discriminate, you could just as easily flip it and say the government discriminates by taking money from one person and giving it to another. Or protecting one industry or company and not another. Or preferring one immigrant group or another. Or making policies favorable to one race or another. I think if you look at modern America, you will find most of the discrimination that exists is both instutionalized and condoned by the government.

As for paying taxes, it is not a matter of being mean to the poor, it is a matter of game theory. Do you disagree that if everybody votes and some people receive and some people pay, eventually the receivers will move in politicians that expand the number of receivers and take more from the payers? I don't see any other way it plays out, and believe me, as I am sensitive to your calls of discrimination, I have thought through the different scenarions quite a bit.

In any case, this has nothing to do with Rand Paul. Now I am just vocalizing my own political prejudices, so I'll leave it at that. More importantly, I need catch a few Z's before morning, so good night to you...
