If they started pumping into the bop, there will be a net influx, and the fluid will move on the path of least resistance, or out the riser in this case. Hopefully, you'll see the rate increase to where the rate through the kinks in the riser make it easier to flow down the well. I'd expect to see something like this "explosion" until they get the flow going the opposite direction. I just don't know what's really going on there right now, but this could possibly be just pumping water to see if they can get injection into the bop. it would be like pushing on the end of a syringe, and everything accelerating out the riser... |

I can agree with it looking like a methane hydrate storm for sure. In the second vid it definitely has blobs of oil. And it looks like a lot more than what has been coming out previously. Ok I will go with this. It seems reasonable and it makes me feel more calm and rationale. I did hear on the radio that they would be doing some testing. Those loops are freaky as hell and have me worried. I hope what you wrote is what is going on. They should take the warning labels off of everything and let stupidity sort itself out. |

On the other hand this is all so raw that I'm not sure anyone has 100% control over the information war. The one hand saying "cut the feed while we screw up the top kill" may not be very closely related to the hand saying "congress says we have to show it." Not sure how the web of information on this story works but I think this is an uncoordinated catastrophe at many levels. |
